Former comedy club owner Ian Lyons eloped with country girl Lisa, but now they return to her home town of Snowle where Ian's in-laws are less than friendly. Ian decides to buy the photography business of the retiring Mr. Webb and strive to survive in this strange, hostile new world.

Ian attempts to secure the contract for Snowle Primary's school photograph, while Astley divides a way to remove his son in law once and for all.

Snowle's Sunday football team is raring up to play local rivals Penfold. Dean wants Ian to play in goal but his tales previous brutal encounters puts him off. Dean finds Ian's topless pictures of Lisa and puts them up all over the village.

Helen is trying to raise funds for the League of Ponies and asks Ian to invite a stand up comedian. Mark Piggot agrees to appear but misjudges his audience. Lisa throws dinner party and attempts fix former boyfriend Derek Few with Jill.

Ian wants to write a book called the "World of Country Fire Stations. He visits the Snowle Fire Service station where Dean tells him he should go out with them. Ian is shocked to learn they go out on prearranged calls to get paid a fee.
S1 • E6
Ian slaps schoolboy Justin Howard during a photo shoot. Police start to investigate Ian for assaulting a minor but is now viewed has the village disciplinarian. When Lisa arranges for him to apoligise to Justin everything comes to a head.
