Nakia Parker is a Native American serving as a deputy to Sam Jericho in New Mexico. Choosing an old truck or a horse over a police vehicle, he also combines tribal traditions with modern crime techniques.

The Non-Person

An Indian deputy sheriff in a small Southwestern city, Nakia Parker is sometimes torn between his heritage and by the law he is sworn to uphold. In the series' opener he helps a young Indian accused of murder.

The Quarry

Nakia becomes involved with a fugitive's family while trying to learn what turned the kind, loving farmer into a murderous wild man.

The Sand Trap

When a young man is murdered Nakia finds his investigation stalled as the wealthy in-laws are uncooperative. The victim's working class background may have played a part and the detective suspects the not so grieving widow.

The Hostage

When a bank heist goes wrong the robber takes a mentally disabled young woman hostage. But as the negotiations drag out Nakia finds out the captor and captive are starting to bond.

When a mob connected accountant relocates to New Mexico his old associates decide he needs to be permanently silenced. Nakia tries protect him even though his bosses have ordered him to not get involved.

Nakia is forced to call upon his knowledge of nature when he single-handedly tracks down three kidnappers to save the life of a young boy.

Nakia is concerned that a naive young friend is unknowingly becoming involved in criminal activities.

An Indian doctor is marked for death by a student he committed to psychiatric treatment years earlier, and who now is the prime suspect in a series of crimes.

Roots of Anger

Nakia is forced to clear his name when a local troublemaker dies soon after the deputy hits him in a barroom brawl.

A Matter of Choice

In a case of wrong place wrong time Nakia is drawn into a bar room brawl. In an act of self defense a man dies which gets Nakia suspended from his job. His future is in jeopardy and a senseless death is on his concious.
