Angel is beside herself because her dentist charged her ten dollars whereas he did not even treat her. Sure, she was a bit late but wasn't she a bit scared? What makes her even more furious is that Johnny, her American husband, sides with the dentist under the pretense that a professional man's time is valuable and must be compensated for. The next day, Angel loses patience after being left waiting for an hour. People are coming for dinner and she has many things to do. As she thinks HER time is precious as well she decides to charge Dr.Mathews ten dollars in his turn ...

Angel finds an envelope with $50 at the market, and rushes home to put it into the Smith vacation fund, but Johnny insists she must return it to it's owner. Soon, their "Lost and Found" ad in the paper brings out several claimants.

Angel and Susie go out to inspect Mr. Johnson's new imported sports car, a "Buckingham", that cost a fortune, and which he's devoted to. They foolishly start tinkering with the motor until it's an incomprehensible mess. When Johnson comes around to get it, he's accidentally slipped tranquilizers in his coffee.

Johnny is to take a Business trip to Paris, so Angel becomes a women's club's guide so she can get there too. But when his plans are canceled, she must convince the women that Paris would be a terrible place for their holiday.

Angel invites a fired woman to come home with her. At the Office, Johnny can't explain missing funds. The woman brings along her servant family, so when the company bookkeeper pops in, Johnny can't tell how he can afford a butler and maid.

The Smiths recount the day they married, which started with Angel held at the immigration office for a lost passport, and ending in the actual marriage ceremony in a hotel suite, with Johnny intoxicated and unsteady.

To help a friend out of a jam, Angel promises to take over her job for one night, unaware that it is as a cigarette girl wearing a skimpy costume. Johnny allows her to go through with it, but only if she wears his overcoat.
