Gene teams up with a local sheriff to try and track down the man responsible for the death of a mutual friend. Things become strained when they cross a county line and meet with a sheriff who is less than helpful and completely unsympathetic to their mission.

Gene encounters a cowboy who tries to rob him. The man dies after he steals Gene's horse and falls. On his body Gene finds a cryptic note about events in a nearby town. On investigating he discovers a strange series of events surrounding the potential of water in the area.

Gene is acting as the sheriff of Santa Rosa while the are is being hit by a mysterious gang of horse rustlers. The townsfolk have many theories about who is responsible and it is up to Gene to solve the case before innocent people get hurt.

Gene Autry is under pressure to sell a piece of land he needs for a water supply. The buyer turns to some dubious practices to try and convince Autry to sell.

Gene is asked to try and solve a series of payroll holdups that threaten to stop construction of a much needed dam in the area. Things become complicated when a young woman comes to town to meet the man she will marry.

To catch a thief, Gene poses as an outlaw, but discovers things are a lot more complicated then he first thought. A blond and a sheriff may make things more difficult.
