After his father dies in hospital, a wise doctor encourages the teenage Kang Dong Joo to seek revenge by bettering himself. Dong Joo does this by becoming a doctor. Years later as an intern he gets a series of difficult patients as a form of punishment, but after seeing Yoon Seo Jung perform surgery he is smitten.

5 years later as a general surgeon, Dong Joo is forced to transfer to a rural hospital after losing a VIP patient. Here he is reunited with Seo Jung and the enigmatic Teacher Kim and meets the quirky characters of Doldam Hospital.

Seo Jung must face the consequences of her actions whilst recovering from her injuries. Dong Joo is put to work on a busy Friday night and questions if he should stay.

Teacher Kim and Dong Joo fight after treating burn patients and Dong Joo hands in his resignation. Seo Jung begs for another chance and Nurse Myung Sim stands up to Teacher Kim. Chairman Shin asks Teacher Kim to be his heart surgeon much to the chagrin of Do Yoon-wan, the Director of Geosan hospital.

With Teacher Kim's identity revealed, Dong Joo decides to remain at Doldam. Seo Jung begins as an orderly and Director Do's scheming ways are beginning to be known. Dong Joo performs a surgery alongside Teacher Kim.

Motivation

Director Do sends a small team to Doldam to gather information on Teacher Kim. Whilst both Teacher Kim and Dong Joo are out, an emergency forces Seo Jung to recruit Director Do's son, Do In-bum, to assist in saving the patient.

Unstable Factor

Director Do sends nurses and doctors to Doldam, putting everyone on edge. A hostage situation in the operating room puts Seo Jung in immediate danger.

The Manifestation of Humanism

The hostage situation unfolds with Teacher Kim gambling the life of Seo Jung to save a patient. The spies from Geosan find out about Seo Jung's trauma and use it to attack not only her but Teacher Kim and the hospital.

The Boundary of Good

Seo Jung runs away before learning the results of her psych evaluation. Teacher Kim is prohibited from working, and the ER quickly becomes a madhouse.

CRUSH

Seo Jung and Dong Joo happen upon the aftermath of a major traffic accident. The injured victims are brought to Doldam, overflowing the tiny hospital.

Seo Jung learns she is being sued by the drunk driver whose blood she drew at the scene of the accident. Dong Joo is put in charge of a patient on the run.

The Doldam staff, patients, and guardians become restless as the MERS scare keeps them quarantined. Chairman Shin's surgery turns out to be a different kind of operation altogether.

Dong Joo feels anxious about his relationship, or lack thereof, with Seo Jung. Another figure from Teacher Kim's past shows up to cause him further trouble.

Yeon Hwa is repeatedly berated by In Bum after listening to Dong Joo over him. Director Do gives Teacher Kim a choice between two conditions if he wants to go through with Chairman Shin's surgery.

Dong Joo and In Bum must perform an emergency operation, but will they finish in time for their part of Chairman Shin's surgery? Or will they lose even more precious time?

The fate of Doldam hangs in the balance as everyone waits for Chairman Shin to wake up, if he does at all. Dong Joo receives some unexpected mail.
