The Morecambe & Wise Show was a long running and massively popular sketch series starring British comedy duo Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise, plus a string of top-name international celebrity guests (of a bygone age), like André Prévin.

Eric and Ernie appear in the first edition of their show, with help from regulars Jenny Lee-Wright and writers Sid Green and Dick Hills as "themselves". Guests include Los Zafiros, in an episode that no longer exists in the BBC archives.

Eric has disappeared for a week, claiming to have sailed around the world. Ernie tries to get revenge by conning Eric out of money, and out of the show. Michael Aspel is the guest, while music comes from Chris Langford and Kenny Ball.

Episode #1.8

The final show of the first series includes guests Matt Monro, Kenny Ball and Thelma Bignell. This edition is the last episode of the series to be missing from the BBC archives.
