At Chub's birthday party, he recalls his first encounter with the Rangers. As orphan from the big city and the new kid in Indian River, the junior rangers try to make him feel at home by throwing him a surprise birthday party. Before long he runs away from home and gets lost in the muskeg and the Forest Rangers need to find him quickly before the wild animals do.

When McLeod Valley is threatened by fire the kids go to warm the old prospector living in the valley.

Spike, the Forest Rangers dog, is wrongly accused of biting a local man. The man insists Spike should be put down, and so it is up to the kids to save him.

One of the kids horses gets seriously injured and Shing Wauk is called upon to make some good medicine to heal the horse's leg before Ranger Brody comes to shoot the horse and put it out of it's misery.

Joe Two Rivers, Mike and Chub catch a couple of Russian spies in a bear trap after the spies go into the bush against Ranger Keeley's advice because the fire index warning is high. Indian River is apparently along the old DEW line.

Indian Joe is falsely accused of stealing $500 from a friend, the son of a wealthy landowner. It turns out his friend is being blackmailed in a phony auto accident scam.

The kids thwart high-grade gold thieves by tying heavy logs to their float plane so they can't escape with the loot.

The Forest Rangers take a break from fighting forest fires to search for a little girl on her way to a party, who may be in grave danger. A ravenous wolf is on the loose, and he's eating everything in sight.

Keep: A dog catcher comes for all the dogs in Indian River.

Local school girl, Susannah, wins a scholarship to study in the city, but her father won't let her go because he needs her to stay and help around the farm. Her father almost dies after he blows up a beaver dam with dynamite. Later on the kids help around the farm and Susannah can take off to the city to continue her studies.

A young boy is caught in the plans of a wrong doer and lives.

McLeod claims that he killed a Mastodon years ago in the bush, and the kids go out looking for the bones. They find the tusks and return them when George explains that they are elephant tusks and that about 50 to 60 years ago a circus had an elephant that escaped.

A German man rescues Chief Ranger George Keeley after he's forced to bail out of his stricken plane.

Raoul befriends a bear which turns out to be a wild.

Social Services threatens to take Chub back to an orphanage in Toronto after his foster mother dies. While hiding out in the forest he saves a man from dying in a forest fire, which is good enough reason for letting him stay in Indian River with his surviving foster parent.

Renowned western action hero Tex Bailey comes to Indian River with his son to shoot a black bear. The only problem is that he really isn't an expert woodsman. Joe ends up talking to the bear in his native Ojibway Indian tongue after Tex misfires his rifle and panics. The kids make his son Danny an honorary Junior Ranger.

A ferocious wolverine makes it's way into Indian River killing all the livestock in its' way. Joe calls it by it's Ojibway name - "carcajou" - which was a name meant to strike fear into all those that know of this evil little killer.

During a freak winter storm three boys and their teacher are lost and begin to suffer from extreme cold.

S1 • E35
The kids find a baby deer and bring it to town after two thugs try to kill it. Later the deer makes it's way to Col. Gordon's place for safe refuge. Col Gordon is an ex- veteran of WWII who is a dead-eye rifle shooter, though he gave up killing after the war.

By-the-book Brody is called in for back-up duty and causes problems when he gets a message over the radio wrong.

The Esmee Mining Corporation's dentist steals a gold shipment from them.

Macleod, desperate for a pocket watch steals someone's timepiece. When Amik is accused of the crime, Macleod fesses up

A fur trader deceives the Junior Rangers with some pelts.

Tyrant Jack Brass lives in a shack out in the bush where he poaches furs illegally. Joe and the kids track him on a dog sled. When Jack and his friend catch Joe, they plan to beat him up and put him through a hole in the ice of the river where he will won't be found until springtime. A fight ensues with the hole in the background, but Chub comes and saves Joe's hide just in time.
