Tricky TV is a magic and illusion show aimed at children and teenagers, presented by magician Stephen Mulhern. Each episode combines close-up magic, practical jokes, and large stage illusions. A feature of the show is that, each week, viewers are shown how to perform a simple magic trick using common household items. Each show ends with a performance of a classic stage illusion, such as Sawing a Woman in Half. During the show's first season, Mulhern was joined each week by a different guest celebrity, who usually acted as his assistant in the final illusion in addition participating in other parts of the show. From the second season onwards, his Ministry of Mayhem (1991) co-presenter Holly Willoughby joined the show as Mulhern's regular assistant for the final illusions.

A full-sized model gorilla comes to life, special guest Jennifer Ellison is amazed by a card trick, and then finds herself a little cut up in the Zig Zag Girl. In the closing illusion, Stephen makes a dream come true for a class of school kids by making their teacher vanish.

Episode #1.2

Stephen Mulhern shows the army a new camouflage method when he attempts to make a tank disappear, a boy is put through a mangle, and a school cookery class gets a little out of hand.

Episode #1.3

Stephen Mulhern demonstrates the illusion of levitation assisted by his special guest, Caprice. Also, customers at an ice-cream van are served up a surprise.

Episode #1.4

Stephen visits a gym to try out a special exercise machine. Stephen's special guests, The Cheeky Girls, help him perform a trick with playing cards - by sitting on them. A viewer's mum agrees to be sliced up to be sent by post. Plus Stephen shows how to turn a handkerchief turns into an egg with a touch of magic.

Bradley Walsh is amazed by a card trick with a football link; Stephen transforms a viewer's old family car; a poster comes to life; a harmless toy terrifies members of the public; and a viewer's mother helps with a dangerous feat.

Rachel Stevens lends a diamond ring for some magic, and Stephen sends a bodybuilder to The Table of Death.

Episode #1.7

Stephen produces pop star Louise from a poster and does a trick with a box of tissues. Jack Osbourne receives some unusual help to overcome his jet-lag. In the closing illusion, a volunteer tests a new illusion called Clearly Impossible.

Comedian Joe Pasquale plays a version of Russian roulette. Stephen tries to turn a pack of cub scouts into brownies, and sends someone to the guillotine.

Episode #1.9

For this Halloween episode, Peter Andre and Jennifer Ellison join Stephen at The London Dungeon, where Jennifer has a series of unfortunate experiences.
