Beryl and Geoffrey meet up again 409 days after splitting over the subject of marriage - she wants to get married but he doesn't. They decide to get back together again but the subject of marriage is not to be mentioned.

An incident whilst waiting for Geoffrey makes Beryl want him to become more dominant, something he is not comfortable with. However, she isn't particularly happy with the result.

Instead of going to night school, Geoffrey goes around to Beryl's place for a game of scrabble. They have their usual romantic banter so they break up again. Geoffrey leaves and goes to the pub, and strikes out again.

Beryl is taking Geoffrey to meet an old friend who happens to be married with a baby. She hopes to convince Geoffrey about the joys of matrimony. It didn't quite work out as they expected for both of them.

Beryl wants to smarten up Geoffrey by making him grow a moustache and wear a suit. She then tries to make him jealous by flirting with his workmate. It doesn't work and she realises she shouldn't try and change him.
S1 • E6
Beryl decides that she and Geoffrey should point out what each others faults are. It is too successful and they break up. They are both heartbroken so, after meeting at a party, they decide to get back together.
